[ text ; cave-wide bulletin ]
Good morning, Sleepers! Have a nice nap? I hope so, because there are a few things we need to go over now that you’re conscious. Seriously, take the time to read this and save all of us a few headaches.
1. Murder is still against the law. Whatever twisted reasoning you’ve got going on in your head, you might think that only counted in your dreams. It doesn’t. Don’t even dare try it. We will catch you and you will be punished.
2. Pay attention to curfew. If the lights dim and go all kind of amber-like? You’re out too late. Only authorized personnel are allowed out After Hours. If you’re caught, you will be escorted back to your quarters and given a warning.
3. Your dreams are not real. This one is hard for a lot of people. Trust me. I know. That doesn’t mean you should act on anything you think you might know from them. Chances are only the most common of sense still holds true here (which doesn’t include your names). If you insist that your dreams are real and try to force this opinion on others, the guard force will act.
4. Don’t forget your ID. If you haven’t found it yet, it should be next to your bed inside your quarters. These are necessary to get into many major establishments around here, including your own rooms. Try not to lock yourselves out.
That said, we’re all in this thing together and I’m here to help you. If you have questions or need clarification on any point, reply to this bulletin and I’ll get back to you at my earliest convenience.

1. What if they attacked me first?
2. Why, are there creatures-of-the-night roaming the streets?
3. If you say so, bucko.
4. Oh, I think I remember who I am just fine, thanks.
I do have a question! Where's the nearest exit? Or failing that the nearest candy-store?

1. Self-defense isn't against the law, but we can't ignore it if someone dies by anything other than an accident.
2. Nope. It's good manners.
3. I know so. Eventually, so will you.
4. Which is why...
... you're stuck here for now. Nearest candy store would be quite a few miles away from here and wouldn't you know it? Closed for the last 150 years.

1. Got it.
['Accidents'. He can do 'accidents'.]
2. Good manners not to have fun? Geez, you already sound like you need to lighten up.
3. That doesn't sound ominous at all.
Someone should go shake off the dust. I'll keep them in business for the next 150 years.

2. To follow the rules. We don't have any rules against harmless fun.
3. It's not ominous, it's a fact.
Are you volunteering?
no subject
2. Ever heard that old line about some rules being meant to be broken?
3. Right. An ominous fact.
To be a patron? Sure, sign me up.

interestingly in vd-verse everyone actually texts in capslock XD
hahaha, oh man. are their phones broken?
clearly mere lowercase doesn't convey the urgency of the situation
all situations are urgent in capslock.
THIS SITUATION IS VERY URGENT INDEED.
HURRY UP AND WAIT?
QUICK DO NOTHING.
WE HAVE ALL THIS TIME TO WASTE.

Oh, and why did you have to wake me up now? It's a bit like losing power at the height of suspense in a great book!

Ah, well. This is all a little disorienting, I'll admit. Let's start with some questions.
In regard to point 2; what do these 'warnings' entail exactly, and what's the penalty for being caught outside at inappropriate times more than once? In regard to point 3; what exactly do you mean by 'the guard force will act?'
Not that I'm feeling particularly inclined to break these rules, you understand. I'd just feel a little better if I had access to all the available information.

The warnings work on a strike system. You know, three strikes and you're out? Except it may be more or less than three depending on the circumstances... and the "you're out" part is more like temporary house arrest.
The guard force acting means we'll intervene and take the necessary steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.
no subject
Ah, you'll have to bear with me but that still sounds a little vague. 'Necessary steps'?

Rehabilitation is generally one of the first. Nothing horrific or whatever else you might be thinking.

[ You'll have to forgive Shepard, she's been told things were all in her head before and she really, really dislikes the implication. ]
Sorry. I don't buy that.
