[ She looks at him evenly. ] I think telling you would be a waste of a potential guessing game.

[He waggles his fingers in the air. She could've been any number of things, and 'living' was the broadest category. 'Physical' was the next.]

[ She just grins. She likes you too. ]

[ Okay, Twenty Questions it is. She makes a slight face and waggles her hand from side to side. ]

Depends on your definition of 'live'.

[He snaps his fingers at her.]

Undead it is! Corporeal?

[Let's face it, most undead with any intelligence left did have bodies.]

[ Well, he was quick. And unfazed. ]

[Hey, he saw dead people all the time. He taps his chin thoughtfully.]

That just means we're down to vampire, zombie or lich, really. There's a few outliers, but those're the most likely.

[He makes a face.]

Hope it was vampire. Dreaming you're a rotting corpse or a skeleton? Can't imagine that would be much fun.

[ Okay, you got her. She flinches at 'vampire' and adjusts her stance to something a touch more defensive. She didn't think he'd actually figure it out, somehow. ]

[Gabriel does a little boogie and then snorts.]

That wasn't even difficult. You could've dreamed something more original.

So sorry to disappoint. I'll do better in the future, just for you.

[ She rolls her shoulder, trying to relax. ]

Doesn't bother you at all, does it? [ Mal's not sure whether to be amused or irritated. At home people are generally afraid of her, at least at first. ]

[He pfts again and waves a dismissive hand.]

Hm. [ She will, Gabe. She will. ] At least mine are only bloodsuckers. It's interesting how the Dream reflects . . . reality, in that way.

[Not if she pretends not to she won't! He snorts.]

I've only met one of my brothers here, and he's the laziest bastard in the family. I'd rather not get to see how much things match up with some of the others.

Family's too much trouble. [ She shrugs dismissively. ]

[Gabriel laughs a bit.]

Amen to that. So! Seen all you need to see? There's whole lots more that's interesting.

I'm sure there is. [ Not. ] But apparently I'm meant to report to work, and I'd just hate to disappoint anyone on my very first day.

Oh, sure. Cut and run. And this date was going so well!

[He winks facetiously. He'd have made a joke about the consequences of being late for work, but around here, there's really no telling.]

Tours are dates, now, are they? [ She's openly amused, and allows her nearly-concealed accent to emerge just for a moment. ] In my country we don't do things this way.
